Eildon Fishing Report
The Rivers have certainly been busy this week even with the chilly conditions, anglers have doing well.
Down the Goulburn River things haven’t changed much since last week; drifting scrubbies, soft plastics, small hard bodied and bladed Celta type lures are still working well.
The old Gold Kroc picked up a nice 4.5lb brown in the Goulburn River as well as several nice Rainbow Trout up to 5lb being caught as well, many smaller but healthy Rainbow Trout being taken as well.
As of the 2nd of September 2017, the Rubicon River has had a couple of new Regulations placed on it; a new maximum bag limit of 3 trout with a minimum size of 25cm and still only 2 trout allowed over the 35cm mark.
These regulations have been implemented to try and help the sustainability of the Rubicon River.
Even though Big River is quite high at the moment, scrubbies and Celta are working on small brown trout.
With the latest releases into the Pondage, anglers are doing well; the best areas to target have been Cemetery Point, the Footy Oval, the back of the Eildon Caravan Park and Bourke St.
Best baits have been the local dough, power bait, maggots and mud eyes, and once again the gold Kroc lure has worked on the odd 4lber as well.
Lake Eildon has seen several Redfin picked up on scrubbies amongst the trees in the Big River Arm.
Murray Cod are still about with the latest report of an 86cm fella being caught on cheese.
Spotted dog pattern lures trolled on lead line picked up a nice brown trout around the 2lb mark.
With the season back in full action and plenty of anglers out and about, please remember the golden rule; if you take it in please take it out; already some lazy anglers are leaving rubbish behind and if you want to fish in this magnificent beautiful natural environment then leave it the way you found it.
