13/08/2017 Lake Eildon Fishing Report
Lake Eildon is finally on the way back up, and the Murray Cod have started to become a little more active as well.
In the Goulburn Arm Cod up to 80 cm have been taking dark or black spinner baits, purple stump jumpers and soft plastics has worked for smaller Cod but the odd fellow going 84cm, and in the Harbors amongst the houseboats and structure, scrub worms are working on Cod up to 73cm.
Brown Trout between 1 to 2.5lb are still plentiful through out the Lake and Tassie Devils in pink and clown pattern are still the lures of choice.
Anglers that have been the most successful are flat line trolling in areas such as the Big River mouth, Jerusalem Creek, the main arm, Fraser camping ground and the Delatite arm as well.
Along the Eildon Dam Wall one group of anglers landed 4 nice brown Trout, using Paravanes and setting it to 15 feet and slowly trolling Tassie Devils.
The Eildon pondage has just been restocked with 1000 ready to catch Rainbow Trout and 60 Brown and 60 Rainbow Trout ex brood stock up to 4kg, and as you would expect things have been pretty lively near the football oval.
Assorted power bait and the local dough are the best baits at the moment but small scrubbies have worked on more established Trout near the rear of the Eildon Caravan Park.
Gold krocs and pink Tassie are must have lures if yore going to be spinning in the Pondage and the best areas are the Footy Oval, Bourke St and an area that is called the Beach.
