Eildon Fishing Report
Lake Eildon is slowly creeping up at the moment, and the Murray Cod and Brown Trout are loving the conditions.
Brown Trout up to 3lb are being caught on clown and green pattern Tassie devils flat line trolling between Jerusalem Creek and the mouth of Big River.
Similar techniques are working in the main arm for brown trout as well, with the only difference being that the color you should try first is pink and that’s from one end of the main arm to the other.
The Mountain Bay Classic saw an absolute thumper of a Murray Cod caught around the 113cm mark and one just under the meter mark proving that the Murray Cod are firing up big time.
There has also been some other nice Cod caught elsewhere in the Lake; in Lake Eildon Marina there has been several caught around the 65 cm mark on salami and scrub worms; near the Alliance Boat Ramp soft plastics picked up a couple around 50cm mark.
There has been a few reports of Murray Cod from 85cm to 95cm being caught on red and black spinner baits, bib less crank baits and stump jumpers in the purple as well.
A couple of nice Trout one over the 2lb mark and the other around 5lb have been caught in the Eildon Pondage on power bait, however, the majority have been small rainbows.
The Pondage is due for a restock at some stage this week in preparation for the Big Fish Challenge next Saturday and Sunday so this will certainly fire things up.
The Goulburn River has been doing well this week; even with the flows being decreased then increased.
The gold Kroc is working well near Blue Gums Caravan Park; while small hard bodies such as the double clutch, and small Rapalas have been working elsewhere in the Goulburn and Rubicon Rivers. Drifting scrubbies and using power bait is also worth a shot.
