The Goulburn River is running at 4200 meg, at the moment and regardless of what some anglers may think it’s well worth fishing. Drifting slightly or unweighted scrubbies, between Eildon and Thornton one angler managed to land 22 rainbow and 2 brown trout ( all were returned to the river) a couple went close to the 2lb mark as well.

The Eildon pondage has been a little hit and miss again this week, but the local dough is still the pick of the baits, with rainbow power bait being a close second. Mornings between 7 and 10 am down riverside drive is the area to target with the odd 5lb rainbow being caught amongst a few smaller ones that are getting about, Kroc lures and black and gold t tail soft plastics are working at for good size trout near the boat ramp in the Pondage caravan park.

Up on the lake small Murray cod yellow belly and redfin are being caught on the dam wall near the Alliance boat ramp using scrubbies and yabbies. A nice 60 cm Murray cod was caught trolling a black and gold stump jumper and over near Italian bay and woolshed inlet anglers working the trees are doing well for some nice red fin on worms and yabbies.
