Brown trout are still being caught in large numbers at the moment, with one group of anglers that camped at Taylor’s creek this week managing more than 50 brown trout from 1 to 3lb. Flat line trolling Tassie devils and King cobra lures in a wide variety of colors was the way to go. Up towards the Goulburn and Howqua arms pink, orange and clown patterns was also working. Small Murray cod and red fin are taking soft plastics near the dam wall.

Eildon pondage had been a little slow lately but has fired fire up this Sunday, rainbow trout 20cm plus are taking scrubbies, local dough and power bait along Bourke st and a couple of brown trout around the 4lb mark have been caught on lemon twist power bait near the Eildon caravan park. Near the football oval and bridge, pink and rainbow power baits the go.

The rivers are doing well above and below the lake, with red and gold Celtas working in the upper Goulburn river, and motor oil soft plastics, small trout type hard bodies, copper Celtas, and scrubbies working in the Goulburn river below the pondage.

Similar lures and baits are also working in the smaller rivers such as the Acheron, Steavenson, Little and Rubicon.
