YEA GARDEN EXPO — 23rd & 24th September 2017
After the outstanding success of our first Garden Expo last year we are now going to ensure it becomes an annual event and this year the EXPO will be held on the same weekend as last year namely the 23rd and 24th September 2017 at the Yea Racecourse. While there were many aspects which proved to be an outstanding success last year there were also aspects that had to be better and we have set out to address and improve each facet. Last year we had just under 1600 visitors to the Expo and this year we are aiming to exceed 2000 visitors.
Pricing of entry for the public and vendors.
While last year it was generally commented that our entrance price of $5 for adults and children free was low we have decided not to increase the price as we feel it is important to attract a high level of public attendance so all vendors have a high opportunity of success. In that same context we have not increased the site prices for vendors either and have stayed with $150 for 6mx6m and $200 for 9mx6m as we believe the long term success of the Expo will be based on getting visitors thru the gate and vendors having a profitable weekend.
Advertising and Marketing
We will be distributing circa 4000 Expo advertising flyers across a wide area ranging from West Gippsland,Inverlock,Cowes,Bacchus Marsh,Daylesford ,Shepparton,Benalla,Wangaratta.Mansfield,Marysville Lillydale, Healesville the Northern & Eastern suburbs of Melbourne and many towns within that broad regional scope. Our marketing will again involve contacting all the garden clubs we have dealt with in the past. Last year we were in contact with 106 clubs across Melbourne and central and northern Victoria. The Garden Clubs will only be part of our marketing and we will be placing articles within the Melbourne papers as we did last year and also the various gardening magazines including the June & September editions of the gardening gazette by the Royal Horticultural Society of Victoria. We will also be seeking advertising slots on radio, doing radio interviews and seeking some TV tags. Facebook & Twitter will also be avenues where we will endeavor to gain exposure as well as using our Rotary website. This year we will also launch our own Yea Garden Expo website…… www.yeagardenexpo.com.au
Again we have invited a wide range of gardening vendors to participate in order to provide potential purchasers with a full range of gardening options as well as discovering new ideas and products. Our experience last year proved that having an expo at the start of spring when all the gardeners are ready to embark with enthusiasm on a new season is a significant opportunity for both Vendors and purchasers to get together. You will find a sample list of some of the vendors and their products on our website.
Venue and Parking
The Yea Racecourse provides an ideal venue for the expo as we have facility for circa 130 stallholders to display their products/services without feeling cramped and also have ample capacity for free parking. A map is shown on our website together with some advice regarding travel times and alternative travel arrangements. Parking is free.
