Fishing Report 31st October 2019
What a week weather wise and hasn’t it brought the fish on . Wild brown and rainbow trout are very active first light and on dark taking dry flies in the Rubicon , Goulburn and Acheron rivers . Match the hatch and you will be successful , Royal wolf seems to be the main fly of choice .
Hard bodied lures like Pieca Little Fella and Black Magic Bmax 60 are taking all sized trout during the day as well as power bait , mudeyes and maggots . The pondage has some nice size browns and still some stonkers being caught on Wonder Kroc , Tassie Devils and Rattle Snacks . Local dough ( browns mainly ) Power bait in sherbet , rainbow , chunky cheese , salmon egg and hatchery pellet along with scrub worms mudeyes and maggots are also taking small 30-35cm rainbows and some 4kg plus rainbows .
The lake still has some nice size trout being caught on bloodworm coloured grubs at first light and in the evening in the main arm , during the day go deep , use trolling sinkers ,paravanes or down riggers with large f11/13 size Rapalas and 20gm Tassie Devils . Murry Cod from 35 to over the magic metre are taking yabbies , wood grubs , scrub worms and large lures and swim baits , Jerusalem creek to Big river seems to be the spot to target .
Yellow belly are playing tricks on most fishos , teasing as they follow the lures , plastics , vibes all the way to the boat , yak or shore line in numbers for hrs then they turn on and go off just as quick . The Delatite Arm seems to be the hot spot , but iam starting to get some reports from the main arm through to the Delatite arm of more fish starting to attack the lures and bait . Yabbies and scrub worm cocktail in the timber , rocky ledges and the shallow inlets are working well and they should be ready to fire up with the warm weather and a change coming through Friday with some welcome rain fall to really get them going , so fingers crossed and get amongst them .
Until next week Fish Hard
Cheers Craig
