Mudeyes must be hatching, because that’s the main bait that’s catching trout and redfin in the pondage, browns around the 3kg and the latest released rainbows along with some very nice sized redfin.

Fishing over the weed beds when the pondage is fairly full or along riverside drive (when the trees are cleaned up from the recent storm) when it is low seems to be working, local dough fished on the bottom is also taking trout. The Goulbourn is flowing at 3000meg so fishing the slower water and eddies with maggots and diving lures is the shot for some very nice size browns and rainbows.

The Rubicon and Steavenson rivers have small but fun sized rainbows and browns taking flies and spinners but wear some gumboots, gators or your waders due to plenty of snakes.

Lake Eildon has settled down after the long weekend and the fish have slowly started to move back into a depth that is easier to fish. Big river has cod taking swim baits casting towards the bank and trolling the banks and around the trees , redfin and yellow belly are starting to congregate around the drop offs and timber around Goughs Bay , Jerusalem creek , Taylor bay through to the Delatite arm, try some yabbies, worms , bobbers and vibes.

Until next week
